Saturday, April 5th is International Soup Day! It is a time to enjoy the universal love of this ancient dish with others.
Soup is not only tasty and nutritious; it also serves to bring family, friends, and strangers together, forming a circle of friendship and community around the table. During this special lunch, we will learn about and honour the story of Stone Soup. Come to learn about this beautiful tale which has many variations around the world, but all with the same universal theme.

The beauty of this season’s cherry blossoms is unmissable! Join us for an outing to Stanley Park and enjoy the carpets of pink skies adorned by cherry trees in Vancouver’s largest park. We’ll spend two hours under the trees, enjoying them and taking photos.
Make sure to bring some water, your camera, and to dress for the weather!

Sunshine, blossoms, and chirping birds! Join us for a visit to one of the most authentic traditional Japanese gardens outside of Japan. Even Emperor Akihito said that he felt like he was in Japan when he visited it!
Spend your time here strolling or engaging in photography and “plein air sketching”. We will then visit the UBC Rose Garden for beautiful mountain and ocean views and a group picnic.

Did you know that you may be eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), which aims to reduce the cost of dental care? Annual reassessments of eligibility by the Government of Canada will begin in March 2025, and people who are interested in benefiting must renew their coverage by June 1st, 2025. Join Mystica, owner of Pearl Boutique Dental Hygiene, to learn more about the CDCP, what it is, and who is covered.
A new partner of SGSC, Pearl offers 15% off dental hygiene cleanings to SGSC members. They will also be back on May 16th to help you and your family members apply and/or renew for coverage under the CDCP.

Come enjoy an exciting afternoon as our very own members show off the latest styles from local shops, including Caposhie and Lord’s Shoes & Apparel.
This has been a highly requested event!
We will have live classical music performances, multiple raffle prizes from local stores, photo booth fun, handmade knits from our own Knitting Group that you can purchase, as well as beautiful jewelry of all styles (only a few dollars a piece!), and great spring and summer clothing at unbeatable prices. “I joined the South Granville Seniors Centre in 2004 and worked as a dishwasher for the Wednesday group, then I moved to the reception job. I was born in Fiji Islands, moved to Vancouver in 1970. It was a big adjustment for me [and] apart from speaking English I speak Hindi. I enjoy working at South Granville Seniors Centre and I would like to thank Ms. Danna, Ms. Gina and our new staff Ms. Linda. They all are very accommodating and welcoming. South Granville Seniors Centre has very good programs and activities for the Seniors to come and attend and enjoy.”
